So it seems that metals are emerging at the moment as the material of choice for a number of designers.
And it's the warm glow of copper hues in particular which has attracted the attention of quite a few established names in the field this year, including Tom Dixon (who has famously long held an affection for the shiny stuff) and Thomas Heatherwick, as well as young Swedish talent Jessika Källeskog.
Another young designer which we've been following for a little while now is Lima de Lezando; and he's also plumped for metals with this new 'Furore' lamp.
Set to go into production this Autumn, 'Furore' is a ceiling lamp made up of seven arms of curved metal tubes and handmade glass shades. Rather reminding us of elaborate Victorian lab equipment in copper, the pendant light also comes in gold, chrome, and black or white in either matt or shiny finishes.
Lezando addtionally has made provision for the piece to be produced in other colours too, plus the glass parts of the light can be clear or colour toned.
This flexibility with colour combinations rather neatly allows the piece to be individualised to any interior - making 'Furore' just as suitable for restaurants and hotels as it would be for the home.
