FULLY FORMED

This chair is beautiful.

And it also has us a little confused. Is it sculpture? Product design? Or architecture?

The piece, by Daniel Widrig, is called 'Brazil' and was hewn from plywood; commissioned (and now presumably owned) by a rather lucky private client.

Having originally trained as an architect in both Germany and the UK, Widrig then joined Zaha Hadid's office after graduation, working on a number of projects such as the Performing Arts Centre in Abu Dhabi, the Performing Arts Centre in Amman, the Masterplan for Kartal-Pendik Istanbul and the extension of the Haram Mosque in Mecca.

Currently, Widrig is artist in residence at the German Academy, Villa Massimo in Rome, and has established his own studio in London, undertaking architectural concepts, products, objects and furniture editions in a distinctively experimental style.
