British furniture brand Very Good & Proper were initially born to create furniture for London restaurant Canteen by co-owner, Patrick Clayton-Malone - but then thankfully he decided to make the designs available everyone.

Like their name (and their motto; 'Measure Twice, Cut Once') the collection has a no-nonsense practicality.

The Canteen table is a familiar archetype, yet perfectly tweaked to fit into commercial and residential environments. Plus, you can also buy table legs separately from them to attach to any table top you wish.

We rather like their canteen chair which clearly inspired by the ubiquitous post-war school chair. Its powder coated steel frame and pressed beech plywood seat and back makes it both light weight and stackable, and comes in a range of lovely bright colours.

Well-made, reasonably priced and designed to last.
