Bed maker Hästens has collaborated with Spanish textile and graphic designer Cristian Zuzunaga to create a bespoke bed, combining traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary and eye-catching pixel design.

Zuzunaga, who has previously collaborated with companies such as Moroso, Kvadrat, Ligne Roset and Belmacz, joined Hästens and also Wallpaper* magazine to create the Pixel Bed for the magazine's ‘Handmade’ issue.

After several creative collaborations and receiving the Wallpaper* 2010 Design Award for Best Bed, Hästens was excited to support a project in celebration of
original and bespoke design.

Richard Broadhead, Manager of Hästens Western Europe, commented:

“The ‘Pixel Bed’ is unlike anything Hästens have ever created before and it is also completely unlike any other bed. It has been an interesting project to combine cutting-edge design with more traditional furniture making methods to develop a unique product."

He also hinted at a future line of special pieces:

"For now, we have produced one special bed with a headboard, however we are considering launching a limited edition collection and we are currently exploring the options.”
