FOSSA SOFA BY AURELIEN BARBRY FOR COR

"When designing a chair, you have to ask yourself the simple question - what is it to sit down? You have to do that in order to create an alternative to the reality that already exists" says French designer Aurelien Barbry.

And in asking those questions, Barbry has come up with something a little more clever than the usual in this 'Fossa' sofa, newly designed for COR.

Most modular sofas come as different shaped blocks which you rearrange as a whole, but with Fossa, in addition to being able to add or remove elements, it can also be transformed when cushions themselves are added to or removed from the slots in place for holding the backrests.

Thus, the sofa becomes a lounger, bench or corner piece depending on the configuration of the cushions.

Neat stuff.
