'Soot' side table.

RUSTICAL X INDUSTRIAL BY FRANK MICHELS

Born and raised in Luxembourg, young designer Frank Michels studied architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts and then went on to pursue a design bachelors degree at the University of Applied Sciences in Postdam.

And 'Rustical x Industrial' is his graduate collection, inspired by 'rural and suburban bricolage'.

Using functional and humble materials such as chipboard, pinewood, lightweight concrete, MDF and steel, Michels added bold colour to sections which serves to heighten the vernacular feeling of each piece.

From an archetypal storage dresser to a squat little coffee table, we like his patchwork approach to craft, distilling the essence of furniture down to the minimum whilst retaining bags of charm.

One to watch.
