Maison et Objet's 2010 'Creator of the Year', Constance Guisset has recently designed this series of balancing boxes, called 'Cairn', for Petit Friture.
"Cairn is a series of containers in turned wood that pile up freely thanks to magnets. One way or the other, they assemble flouting all balance rules to create unexpected shapes, referring to the idea of an infinite architecture." says Paris-based Guisset of her new work.
"The irregular volutes remind of the colonnades of Jaïn temples; unlikely buildings set up to the sky and that can only be reached once a thousand steps have been climbed."
There will only be a limited series of 174 pieces made; each one numbered and signed by Guisset, and the official release is set for the 2011 Salone Internazionale del Mobile in April.
Can't wait that long?
Then head to the International Biennale of Saint Etienne, which is on now and runs until December the 5th; where Cairn is currently forming part of the exhibition 'Process Design'.
