Droog has just released ‘What You See Is Not’ by Fernando Brízio; a cabinet which is not all it seems...
“What one sees is a result of who one is, how one thinks and how one is mentally and physically constituted. I am interested in this type of interaction between the object and the viewer.” says the designer of his underlying concept.
The piece is a cabinet reduced down to its two-dimensional image, leaving only one three-dimensional detail intact - an open drawer, perfect for a book or two.
“When you need a drawer, it always comes with a cabinet to hold it up. This piece is a clever answer to that, providing the drawer while skipping the cabinet, but still keeping the image of an interesting piece of furniture. It also saves material along the way,” says co-founder and director of Droog, Renny Ramakers.
What You See Is Not will soon be available at Droog Amsterdam and on Droog’s online store.
