The slender wooden curves of Yukio Hashimoto's 'Moonbird' lamp have won it a couple of awards.
Designed by Hashimoto for Japanese lighting firm Yamagiwa; the desk light which is intended to evoke the shape of a bird standing in the moonlight has just been awarded the Gold Award for the Design for Asia Award 2010 and also the Perspective Awards Certificate of Excellence in the Product category.
Gently contoured in a sculptural form from Beech plywood, the piece comes in three shades (natural, walnut and wenge) and incorporates sophisticated LED elements in the very narrow illuminated end.
