Can you believe this cabinet system is celebrating it's 25th birthday?
'Vision', designed by Pierre Mazairac and Karel Boonzaaijer for Dutch furniture manufacturer Pastoe, is a cabinet comprising of a series of chests in various sizes. It has no handles or grips and instead utilizes a pressure-release mechanism borrowed from the car manufacturing industry.
“It’s been twenty-five years and it’s still going strong,” says Boonzaaijer who says he still sees Vision as his baby and is still finding new ways to fall in love with it.
With clean lines and multiple possibilities to arrange units to your liking, Vision's Lego-like flexibility seems to be the key to its success.
To mark Vision's 25th year, a book called 'Space For Imagination' by Karel Boonzaaijer, Ilka Helmig and Johannes Bergerhausen has recently been published.
“It’s so simple, but as with anything simple it has a big story behind it, which I wanted to finally share.” says Boonzaaijer.
Here's to another twenty five years...
