Simple, light, and super adaptable, this is 'Beaugars' designed by Meike Langer, which has just been presented as part of [D3] Design Talents at IMM Cologne 2011.
Constructed from a wooden bench, two metal arcs and three wooden hook-elements, Beaugars can be adjusted according to the available space; becoming either compact or expansive.
The trick lies in the fact that both arcs can be moved 360 degrees around the seating area.
"I try to create functional objects that shall be used and lived with by people in the long term." says Langer of her design process.
"Every detail of an object needs to be thought of and justified, but this austerity should not show in the design. I rather wish my objects to appear light and easy to handle."
We think she's definitely suceeded in her goal here - this is beautiful stuff.
