DE LA ESPADA AT THE MILAN SALONE

De La Espada's stable of designers will be launching a whole host of new furniture at the Milan Salone 2011 next month; to be unveiled at Spazio Botta, in Porta Romana.

Copenhagen-based Søren Rose Studio will introduce their collaboration with De La Espada with the launch of their 'Dragon Table' - a strong hunk of oak or walnut, and their 'Dragon Chair' in bent steel and fabric upholstery.

Principal designer of the new pieces, Søren Rose describes it as:

“A very dramatic collection that combines the best of the Scandinavian tradition with a New York contemporary touch.”

And we'd agree, since the pieces are simple in nature yet obsessive in detail, resulting in some timeless designs that offer a fresh take on modern living. This is the first selection from Søren Rose for De La Espada, with more to come at the London Design Festival in September...

Matthew Hilton will also be launching new products made from robust materials, including solid hardwood and seasoned cast iron.

The range includes the 'Orson' desk and 'Welles Table', the 'McQueen' range consisting of a sofa, bed and two bedside chests as well as the 'Different Trains' cabinet.

However, our favourite has to be Hilton's takes on a classic English chair; the 'Windsor', as he'll also be presenting five of them in ash and walnut, continuing the evolution of an icon.
