CIELO BY KAZUHIRO YAMANAKA FOR PALLUCCO

Pallucco will soon be launching this striking light called 'Cielo' at Euroluce 2011, created by Japanese born, London based designer Kazuhiro Yamanaka.

The slim, minimal floor lamp (which also comes in a pendant version) is topped by a lenticular plastic sheet which explores the varying hues on the lampshade surface; changing colour according to the angle you look at it.

Echoing the way the sky changes colour, Yamanaka also designed the stand to slope, giving the illusion of a floating shade too.

“From dawn to dusk the sky continually changes colour. As the sun is about to rise and set, the colour changes dramatically. Even during the day the colour goes through shades of blue, white and grey giving an impression of the universe being in continual activity.

This aesthetic idea of “Cielo” (the sky in Italian) stimulated Kazuhiro Yamanaka to design this new lamp”.  say the firm.
