We initially discovered Reinhard Dienes' work during the run up to Maison & Objet this year, and were pleased to hear he'll be launching a number of new furniture projects at the Milan Salone for a couple of different firms.
The 'Tonic' family, designed by Dienes for the firm Ames, is set to premier at SuperStudio in via Tortona and is a shelf/sideboard/garderobe multifunctional system cleverly assembled without screws or the use of tools.
The storage hybrid can be used in two different positions; horizontal as a sideboard, or vertical as a dookcase. To achieve this change, you simply pull the legs out of the sockets and replace them in the desired position.
Next up is 'Capa' - a handsome contemporary home work-desk created for Foundry Collection.
Capa; which means 'layers' in Spanish, is a visual composition of colours and textures intended to redefine the archetype of the writing desk.
Dienes also collaborated with Sebastian Herkner on the 'Epos' shelf system for Foundry; a unit made of solid oak and powder coated steel.
Epos works just as well as a singular element or a combination of units, or as a freestanding room divider, or placed traditionally against the wall. Modular boxes and screeens keep the shelves organised.
The designer will addtionally be bringing his new 'Punch' light and 'Calle' mirror to the SaloneSatellite event and his 'La Grande' light for Anthologie Quartett, is going to be presented at Black Out.
If strong contemporary shapes are your thing, we'd suggest you check them out.
