It's been a little while since we heard anything from Japanese furniture firm Maruni, so we were pretty pleased to find out this lunchtime that they've just added two new lines to their range.
Firm M.E. favourites, Maruni have made a name for themselves since launching their first collection in 2008 - all beautifully made, elegantly minimal classic furniture pieces which are now available in twenty countries.
Their latest lines; 'Roundish' and 'Lightwood' come courtesy of Naoto Fukasawa and Jasper Morrison respectively.
'Lightwood' is Jasper Morrison's first table and chair set for Maruni and is literally named for its lightweight feature - the chairs weighing only between two and a half to three kilos at most.
Suitable for variety of uses due to the availability of different choices for the seat (pick from fabric, leather, webbing or mesh) its gently curved legs and airy form ensure its classic potential.
'Roundish' is a new piece by Naoto Fukasawa (who has previously created the 'Hiroshima' and 'Traditional' ranges for the firm) and is characterised by a striking roundish, Modernist curve in the back and seat.
Perfectly hewn from oak or beech, the exquisite curves in its back and seat means that that lets the sitter nestle in comfortably; as if the chair is wrapped around the body.
