New Portuguese design brand Tralhão Furniture, made its debut at the Salone last week, and we must say, their first collection is a very pretty one.
The Epiphany collection is a range of decorative storage which "aims through design to represent a new “sensory urbanity” inspired by historical, cultural and artistic identity elements."
The three pieces, 'Monte', 'Castelo' and 'Vilar' all share a MDF structure and glass feet, but are finished differently with a variety of tactile and vibrant touches; including white high gloss lacquer, silver leaf with a blue varnish layer on top, blue vinyl, and beige velvet.
Additionally, Tralhão launched their first limited edition 'design object' piece called 'Alfama'.
Also a storage unit, Alfama is intended to perpetuate memories by reinterpreting techniques and concepts from the past.
The name itself; 'Alfama', is the fusion between the two words alpha (the first letter of the Greek alphabet) and ama which means love in Portuguese.
On the other hand, those of you familiar with Lisbon will recognise the name as being the same as one of the most characteristic and emblematic neighborhoods of Lisbon.
Inspired by traditional Portuguese tiles, Alfama is a tribute to the anonymous design of generations and past generations, and according to the group;
"...aims to conceptually personify the world today; a world in constant deconstruction and deep global transformation. Alfama desires to communicate graphically, the monumentality present in the national architecture, confronting the duality Ethics vs. Aesthetics."
