Here's another design by Benjamin Hubert, this time for Dutch furniture firm De Vorm.
Launched at the Salone last month, the ‘Pod’ is a large privacy chair designed for breakout areas in offices or residential projects.
Intended as an environmental alternative to tradtional large upholstered furniture which is difficult to recycle as it’s a fixed combination of timber, glue, foam and textile; Pod is constructed from moulded felt created from recycled pet bottles and the entire design is knock down with the shells stacking for minimum carbon footprint in transportation and storage.
Apparently, the shell of the chair is also the largest form ever produced utilising pressed PET felt technology.
In terms of Pod's ergonomics, it allows the user to work comfortably whilst feeling relaxed and separated from the hustle and bustle of daily life - essentially creating a room-in-room experience with the perimeter of the chair cocooning the sitters head.
Hubert has also produced a little video about it - watch it here.
