Just launched at the Salone, this inlaid wooden storage unit is just one of the new pieces from Porro, designed for them by Swedish studio Front.

Recovering the ancient and precious tradition of inlay, 'Inlay' is a dining room cupboard and a chest of drawers covered with a 3D decoration in wood.

Squares, rectangles and trapezes have been carefully cut with crisp edges to create a bold geometric pattern, where an intricate sequence of volumes seems to protrude from the surface of the units, raised from the floor thanks to a plinth.

The cupboard is clearly a tribute to craftsmanship, and the result of some pretty accurate woodworking - alternating six different natural oak colours separated by a dark profile.
