Take a look at these pieces from the first collection by new British furniture makers Young & Norgate; a venture into pared back design which is both contemporary and classic.

With the emphasis on 'making' not 'manufacturing', the small group of designers and craftsmen build each piece of furniture by hand using time-honoured techniques in their workshop on the south coast of Devon.

And it's not just how they make what they make, but what they make it from that matters - Young & Norgate also take the time to carefully select everything from FSC certified timbers hand picked from local suppliers, to premium leathers from Scotland, to ironmongery from New York.

We reckon these pieces; the 'Wellington' chair and 'Animate' writing desk and side table aptly display what the firm stands for. Built to last, each piece is made to order and is one of 100.

Plus, they also apparently have "...the capacity to take on any sized project from umbrella stands to custom made libraries" so if you've got something in particular in mind, they'll probably be able to help.
