TRANSPARENT TIME BY TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA

Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka has designed this new watch which has been produced by Issey Miyake and developed by Seiko Instruments Inc.

Called 'O', with the tag line 'Shape of Water – Transparent Time', the design had its premier at the Basel World in Switzerland in March of 2011 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Issey Miyake watch project.

The name 'O' plays with concept of water in name as well as appearance (in French, eau). and is designed with the idea of returning to the origin of the watch.

The smooth curvature of the transparent plastic bangle draws the eye up to the mirror finish body, which reflects the scenes of the surroundings, and gradually blends into the environment as if disappearing the form of itself.

"'O' opens up a new direction in watch design with non-definitive form like water, which is as if freed from the concept of the materialism." says Yoshioka.

'O' is due to be released in early July.
