CLAMP CHAIR BY ANDREAS KOWALEWSKI

For those of you with a penchant for the classics, or those of you looking for the perfect dining table chair, here's something that might just fit the bill from German designer Andreas Kowalewski.

Setting out to develop a "...comfortable yet simple wooden chair, which reveals the beauty of the wood material and the skills of the craftsman", the Amsterdam-based designer came up with a 'clamp' principle which shapes the chair very neatly indeed by seamlessly interlocking the legs, corpus, seat and backrest structurally as well as visually.

Hewn from a single piece of molded plywood, the upholstered bit curves around your body ergonomically, whilst the beauty of the carefully selected wood (oak or walnut - up to you) adds a feeling of preciousness and luxury to admire when you're not sat in it.

If you do invest, we'd say these are definite heirloom pieces for the grandkids...
