PODIUM COLLECTION BY NICHOLAS LE MOIGNE

Berlin gallery Helmrinderknecht is soon showcasing a solo exhibition of brand new works by Swiss designer Nicolas Le Moigne at Design Miami/Basel.

Le Moigne, who's a graduate of the renowned University of Art and Design in Lausanne (ECAL) and now a lecturer there, will be presenting his new 'Podium' collection.

The Podium collection, which consists of six parts, is based on observations of the customary forms of presenting art and design by galleries and museums. Here, objects are mostly exhibited on a pedestal or plinth, which serves to enhance the effect of the object through its simple form and the deliberate choice of dimensions.

This iconic form or presentation inspired Le Moigne to assume a point of departure that characterizes all objects in his Podium series: the object and the plinth are interconnected, and not without a degree of irony either.

Le Moigne's collection of objects consists of three vases (ceramic), a lamp (glass), a bowl (stone), a shelf (wood), an occasional table (copper) and a couch table (wood) - all made in collaboration with Swiss craftsmen.

The Podium collection goes on show in Basel from the 14th to the 18th of this month and in terms of editions, will be strictly limited to five to eight pieces (+2AP), only available from Helmrinderknecht.
