Slovenian designer Vanja Bazdulji took her 'Rough & Ready' furniture concept to DMY Berlin this year, showcasing an experimental furniture morphology inspired by exploring potentials of the imperfect, the human, and the unpredictable.
Her 'Mr Marine' 'Mr Soft' 'Mr Easy' and 'Mr Sidekick' chairs are a quartet of gentlemen made by hand with a deliberately unfinished finish, using materials out of context.
By taking tailored cured sheets of wool felt and assembling and tightening them into place with rope, she's created something rather interesting - with textures and colours reminding us variously of graffiti, piles of yoga mats and plasticine sticks...
It's an idea which although experimental, seems to have definite crossover appeal; specialty retailer Anthropologie has recently picked up 'Mr Soft' and 'Ms Marine' for their New York gallery shop.
