Young designer Kenyon Yeh's latest project has seen him travelling to Indonesia for research; and the result is this series of ‘Nuo’ rattan pendant lamps.
Together with the local traditional craftsmen, Kenyon studied the process of woven rattan techniques.
The ‘Nuo’ pendant consists of two materials - rattan strips made from the base and stem of banana trees which are recyclable and environmentally friendly - as well as being attractive, flexible, and strong.
‘Nuo’ is divided into two sections, both the outer base and the inner base curves need highly skilled craftsmen to form them, then the lights are finished to leave the rattan's natural golden colour intact.
"Nuo has a unique beauty and simplicity in the finished pendant form, reflecting the traditional skills and the unique allure of material fashioned by human hands." says Kenyon.
