All is not what it seems with Laszlo Tompa's latest project.

Starting off with a simple square box, Tompa has transformed it by covering the surface with geometric ornaments produced by CNC-woodturning.

At first glance, it’s not really visible that the cherry wood form is a relatively large storage unit due to the optical illusion of the ornaments, and in terms of pattern, the case is diagonally symmetrical, so the storage section can be covered with the lid rotated 180 degrees.

In his daily work, Laszlo is actually a ceramic designer; so this is a little bit of a departure for him; but then maybe not, seeing this project grew from a previous idea for a tile design...
