Take a look at Belgian design studio Stal Collectief's 'Eliz' lamp.

The huge birch plywood lamp has a thin metal base, is adjustable, has a large felt 'hood' that diffuses light gently, and provides a well lit, but cocooning atmosphere which we reckon would be brilliant for waiting rooms, restaurants or as event furniture; as well as for your living room.

Not got an interior space big enough?

No problem - the felt shade can be replaced by veneer or a plexiglass cover for outdoor use too.
