These undulating Wood Vases are by Rhode Island School of Design graduate Paul Loebach.
CNC machined in solid maple, the series is an experiment in wood construction, using blocks of solid maple which have been milled in two separate halves.
Where they join, Loebach has added a ‘parting line’ to accentuate their build method and to articulate the profile of the polymorphic shapes - an approach which has resulted in some beautiful details.
Interestingly, Loebach is descended from a long line of German woodworkers, and sees his projects as "an idealistic fusion of his family’s distant and more recent history."
Nice work from a designer we've definitely added to our list of ones to watch...
