KARMI TEA CANISTERS BY SHOSHEN

Time for a cuppa?

These Karmi tea canisters are by Japanese firm Shoshen of Yamanka, who have developed this series of wooden containers for your kitchen and table.

Apparently it takes over a year to produce these beautiful artisan pieces, and we love how they've left the wood unpainted to reveal the beauty of both their work, and of the natural grain.

Traditionally hand produced, their method of manufacture has a long history, since the origin of Yamanka ware dates as far back to the Azuchi–Momoyama period; between 1568–1600.

During this time, craftsmen developed the wood carving techniques that has now become Yamanka lacquer ware's distinguishing feature.

And we see absolutely no reason to change it one bit.
