We've previously featured a playful little light from German designers Yvonne Fehling and Jennie Peiz of Kraud studio; but here's something on a slightly larger scale.
'Stuhlhockerbank' is a series of seating for public spaces that approaches users and viewers in an extraordinary way because in this piece, the dividing lines between different types of furniture (such as a chair, stool, bench) have been eliminated as the three types blend.
The results are 'immobile constellations that express a person’s inner stance in the particular situation'. Over and above the pure purposiveness of a piece of furniture, the objects come with narrative elements. They seem familiar and yet at the same time surprising, enhanced by a sensual and poetic dimension.
"There’s something rather contradictory about the entirely random way we approach or avoid things." say the pair,
"We draw on the complementary and construct complementary objects. The seemingly contradictory complement each other. We make something which goes far beyond its actual function.“
