Every so often we like to drop in on Atelier Takagi's site to see what he's up to. We've featured designer Jonah Takagi's lights before and this time, it's a new table.
Called 'Range Life', Takagi has developed this piece for the lovely Matter, and it's the first in a series of furniture objects inspired by architectural models.
Crafted from a beautiful mash up of materials like American Ash, Corian, blackened steel, powdercoated aluminum, cement and green glass, the table-slash-storage cube manages to be both refined and graphic, yet at the same time, pretty playful and dynamic.
We see the model references in this piece, and it does look a little like a very smart, minimal doll's house...
According to Takagi this was intentional:
"Furnishings become monumental when viewed from a child’s vantage point, and fond memories of playing under coffee tables provided a point of departure for the Range Life series." he says.
Also, we're pleased to see Takagi is still looking to his favourite music to name his designs - this time it's Pavement who provide the inspiration.
