Childhood dreams of outer space, robots and planets are the inspiration behind this futuristic new lamp by Swedish office Jangir Maddadi Design Bureau.

Called 'Droid', the retro robotic piece is both light source and sculpture; which makes it as grown-up and avant-garde in looks as it is playful in concept.

Made to order in Sweden by skilled craftsmen in brass and coated steel, Droid provides light in two separate directions and features dimmers so the level of illumination is entirely up to you.

And whilst the form of the thing is a bit space-y, the light it provides isn't, thanks to LED electrical circuitry which gives this lamp a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 96, - rendering an object’s colour exactly how it appears in a warm, natural light.
