For sporty gift recipients this Christmas, how about these unique beach ball bats from Brazilian firm Frescobol?

Made by collecting small remnants of high quality wood, left over from the production of furniture from Marceneiro (which means 'woodwork' in Portuguese) workshops, each bat is then sculpted and varnished with a special resin to resist sun, sea and sand.

They might have to wait until the weather warms up to use them, but we think these are a gift to last for many summers to come.
