SPOTLIGHT VOLUMES AND TABLE LANTERN BY LUCAS PEET

Canadian designer Lucas Peet's two new lighting prototypes, 'Spotlight Volumes' and 'Table Lantern' are currently on show in Cologne as part of [D3] Talents exhibit at the 2012 IMM Cologne event this week.

The 'Spotlight Volumes' pendant lights are inspired by spotlights and feature an energy efficient CFL light bulb at either end.

Cleverly, one bulb illuminates the ceiling and the other the floor; plus their wonderfully sleek Braun-ish aesthetic is given a textural twist since the outer surface is coated in gloss paint, while the inner surface is hand painted with a brushed pale matte yellow to contrast the strong overall shape of the lights.

The 'Table Lantern' is a free-standing variant of the shape which echoes the sillhouette of an oil lamp. Featuring a cork base and a cork dimmer switch, we reckon those bright and unusual colour choices make this a little stunner of a table lamp.

Also, may we say, as with Peet's previous work, there's some seriously beautiful product photography going on here too...
