With the complete and utter world domination of mobile technology, pretty much all of us now take our phone calls publicly.
But sometimes - you don't want to.
Alain Gilles has come up with what could be the answer with this 'Buzzihood' structure which he's designed for Buzzispaces and will be showing at Maison & Objet in Paris at the end of the week.
An evolution of his earlier 'Buzzibooth' project which has just won a prestigious Henry Van de Velde award, this design is all about personal privacy and well-being in public spaces.
"It is about being able to quickly protect yourself from the surrounding world" says Alain of the concept.
"It is just like when you pull your hood on from those warm hoodies, or when you bring those high collars up from your jacket. The idea is to feel protect, but not isolated. You regain that too-often-lost privacy associated with the use of mobile phones but you never the less remain in touch with those surrounding you."
In a nutshell, it beautifully reinstates the idea of the now almost defunct phone booth (Remember those? They used to be everywhere; in airports, in hotel lobbies...) and ensures private conversations stay private, or avoids that nagging feeling that you might be bothering someone else when you take that important call.
Designed in a similar mold to the bright, architectural forms of the Buzzhub, this graphic piece is also made out of recycled fabric, is available in several colours, plus there is also the possibility to add-on a special little tablet so you can take notes or write down a number while on the phone
The perfect place to run to if your Mum Skypes you in the office...
