Dutch design studio Scholten & Baijings launched this minimal new storage piece at IMM Cologne last week.
Created for Pastoe, 'Shift' combines a sleek box shape with a gentle use of colour; thanks to translucent sliding doors which create a play of 'reveal, conceal' with tinted overlays when the cabinet is opened and closed.
The piece is a lovely blend of technique; the acrylate sliding doors in a solid colour are painted on their reverse, whilst the doors with a gradient colour are digitally printed on their reverse.
And to fit in with all this minimal-ness, the handles are milled into the sliding doors, meaninng they're recessed and virtually invisible.
All in all, we think this is a subtle, sophisticated way to inroduce colour into an interior space.
