Dutch designer Reinier de Jong has just launched this new extendable coffee table.
'REK' is a sliding coffee table that can be enlarged or shrunk down depending on what you need it for; whether that's reading large broadsheet newpapers, accommodating friends over for coffee, or displaying all those nice coffee table books you got for Christmas.
You can extend REK in various ways and the built-in stops make sure you don't extend the sliding parts too far. Plus you can also fix REK in a permanent position that fits your interior if desired.
The top and two sides of the table are made in white HPL and de Jong has finished the edges with options in parquet wood: oak, berch or beech.
The end grain side of the wood is beveled in order to get a grip which is a subtle detail we rather like.
The dimensions of REK table obviously vary with its configuration - 60 by 80 cm in a collapsed state, and its maximum length is 170 cm and its maximum width is 130 cm.
