'Xuan' lighting by Chinese design studio Innovo.

FRIDAY TOP FIVE

For this week's Friday Five we thought we'd revisit some of our favourite designs for lighting.

Innovo's Xuan lamp uses natural grass in a showstopping way. We loved this when we first saw it back in July - and we still do.

And speaking of natural materials, Heather Gillespie's striking Rope Grown chandelier might be made of crystal, but her inspiration apparently comes from the sea...

Sugeru Ban's swooping and rather dramatic 'Yumi' standing lamp also has a simplicity of form which we think will turn out to be a classic.

Nir Meiri's over-arching design philosophy is based on viewing everyday objects with an out of the ordinary approach; and we think this sand-based lighting project does just that.

And lastly, a neat, perfectly balanced lamp by Japanese designer Hikaru Mori which is made of two glass lampshades to change and re-arrange as you wish.
