ERIE BASIN NEW YORK

We're normally into showing you new design here at M.E., but we do appreciate a good eye for the antique too.

Which is exactly what Russell Whitmore of Brooklyn-based antique shop Erie Basin is in possession of.

Taking a curatorial approach to antique dealing, Whitmore collects select 18th to 20th century jewellery and objects with contemporary stylistic and cultural relevance.

Ranging from Art Deco engagement rings to 18th century mourning jewellery to American folk art, the collection is varied, but carefully constructed.

You can buy from Whitmore's online shop which contains a constantly changing selection of the store's inventory, or pop by the corner of Van Brunt Street and Dikeman Street in the Red Hook neighbourhood to see the treasure haul in person.

Whitmore also runs a blog containing some stunning images of his latest purchases as well as photographs he's collected with that same discerning eye.
