Born in Lieksa, Finland, in 1975 and a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, designer Mika Tolvanen established his studio in 2001 in an old coffee shop in Helsinki, and has  been quietly issuing a great selection of consumer products, furniture and lighting ever since. Having recently designed the Riuku Stool for Japanese company E&Y, Mika's latest pieces are these 'Soft Low' chairs.

Tolvanen is also member of Rehti-group, (Rehti means 'honest way of working and acting' in Finnish) a collective of young Finnish designers aiming to bring objects of integrity to International design forums.
