SO FRESH AND SO CLEAN

Bottega Veneta = Good Taste. Fact. Everything Mr. Maier touches seems to be an instant classic. And a classic is what reputedly inspired his S/S 2010 collection which hit the catwalks of Milan like a breath of fresh air.

Namely, it was the karate uniform that began it all at Bottega Veneta this season. Crisp, white, shot through with flashes of bright green, yellow and pink and utterly desirable.

We spotted hints of the 40s, handbags to die for (naturally, from a house so famed for its leather) and plenty of one shoulder numbers that hit exactly the right note between elegant and youthful. The folds, the pleats and and the tucks, the freshness, the tastefulness and the universal wearability. This is a spring and summer collection that was so springy and summery that it brought to mind Pimms, garden parties, and the refined luxury usually found in Aaron Slims photography.

Your Mum could wear it, heck, your Granny could wear it; and M.E. thinks you'd look pretty smashing in it too. Here's hoping that shades of this collection filter down onto the High Street and into the realms of affordability...
