Alexander McQueen went all tropical seascape on us for S/S 2010, but with his usual daring panache, he pushed it out there, incorporating a touch of undersea amphibian sci-fi princess too. Which we adored here at M.E.
With wild graphic print (which sort of looked like a more elaborate version of these) paired with strong, armoured shapes, the collection revolved around exotic little dresses that shimmered and shouted and shoulder padded their way down the catwalk. There were some unmistakably McQueen-ish tailored jackets in grey and a fair bit of black rubbery/leathery tailoring; again demonstrating that this family of fabrics are now de rigeur for both Summer and Winter...
This was futuristic fashion at its best. And once you mentally removed the catwalk styling - whopping hideous shoes and reptilian hairdos - some of the clothes would translate very well into the present day, adding a welcome pop of colour to any LBD-dominated party.
