DRAPE 'N' TWIST

Spare, modern, architectural, minimal, feminine, and unpretentious are all words that have been used to describe Maria Cornejo's work for Zero, and each season she reaches into her own international experience (having lived and worked in London, Paris and now New York) to develop a collection that is unexpectedly simple yet based on sophisticated cuts and angles.

For S/S 2010, she offered up her trademark slouch cool in an array of white, black, blues, nudes and sage greens - all understated colours - but eyecatchingly wrought into haute day and evening wear.

We spied drapey jackets, perfect throw-on dresses and even a couple of great graphic one-piece swimsuits. Which look very appealing right now after all that Christmas excess.

To sum up; hardly a departure from Cornejo's usual style, but that's exactly what we love her for.
