A recent graduate of MA Design Interactions at the Royal College of Art, Alice Wang is interested in exploring needs that huge corporations may not be able to satisfy; creating systems that differ from the unified systems that surround us; designing services that bring new experiences and products that encourage people to think and question.
Her latest project, 'Chairs For The Dysfunctional' does just that, accommodating the individual quirks of people's seating habits.
Do you sit on all four legs or just two?
Do you continuously shake your leg?
Or do you like to sit with your back facing the public?
This series of chairs illustrates each of these stories. Will these chairs become props that normalise the unwelcome habits? Or will they act as therapy to “cure” one’s syndromes?
Designed for the Skilled Tilter, The Constant Shaker, and even the Silent Farter, we like this unusual approach to designing the chair, focusing on the sitter himself.
