Take a look at this fantastic "Wooden Textile" concept from German designer Elisa Strozyk; a recent graduate of Central Saint Martins' Future Textile Design MA course.
The project intends to look at wood in a new way using geometric wooden pieces to compose a flexible surface which can perform in different three-dimensional shapes.
The material ranges between hard and soft, parquet and carpet, blurring relationships between furniture and textiles.
Inspired by material itself and established presumptions about it, Strozyk switched properties and meanings, posing questions and looking at everyday objects, rethinking their function and imagining hybrids between them.
We think she's achieved the perfect balance here.
