QUESTIONS QUESTIONS

During this year's Salone del Mobile, the Design Academy Eindhoven will be asking (and exploring the answers to) some big questions with their exhibit.

The '?' show is about some of the questions the academy is asking now. Questions like: 'What questions are we facing?' 'What is the role of the designer today?' 'What is the future role of a designer?' 'What are we focusing on?'

And here's a taster.

Amélie Onzon asks whether design can confront us with our own double standards with her graduation project called ‘From Fable to Table'.

Onzon says: "People will pamper their pets, yet at the same time they will eat the meat from other animals. This meat will have an abstract appearance, because we refuse to associate it with the living creature it once was." With her project, Onzon wants to show us the inconsistencies in our relationships with animals.

Fellow student Lea Haefliger also had her questions, wondering; “what kind of feelings does hair provoke?” and then choosing to explore the theme with her object-based project ‘Hair-Brush’.

Here's a question: Looking for a thought-provoking exhibition of new talent at the Milan Salone?

Here's an answer: find it at Ventura Lambrate Undai Galleries in Milan from the 14th of April.
