QUIET ELEGANCE

This, we must say, is an impressive fashion debut.

It's the work of Johanna Perret and Tutia Schaad - two recent graduates of the Fashion Design Program at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee - who after stints at fashion houses such as Givenchy and Gaspard Yurkevich decided to join forces to create their own label, 'Perret Schaad'.

There has been much talk in the fashion world of 'Feminine Minimalism' in recent months, with Phoebe Philo at the helm of Celine propelling the look forward. We think that this new label has much the same elegant simplicity, encouraging personalisation and individuality.

Back in January of this year, Perret Schaad were invited to show their first collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, and what followed (rather unsurprisingly we think) was a wave of support from the big guns; Vogue Germany and Women's Wear Daily, New York amongst others.

Their A/W 2010 collection mixes both differences and similarities, playing with concepts of attitude and contrast, whilst the designers' love for natural fabrics is translated into elegant and quality garments.

They consider their natural taste for beauty and elegance as playful rules they will apply, enhance and break.

Ones to watch...
