Vancouver-based furniture designer and woodworker, Christian Woo picked the ICFF to debut his first furniture series, and seriously impressed us with his attention to detail.
Woo, along with a contingent of Vancouver-based designers were invited to show their work in New York to recognize the growing global interest and attention trained on Vancouver’s wood design community.
“I’m completely honored to be included in this flight of designers,” said Woo.“This group represents what I see as a particular Vancouver style and a completely unique approach to the materials and the work.”
Woo launched his 'Covert' contemporary storage series - a capsule collection of five wooden pieces ranging from sleek low profile end tables, to filing cabinets and sideboards. The series’ carefully edited modern profile highlights the qualities of its materials: sustainably harvested hardwoods and hand rubbed oil finishes.
Seamlessly joined drawers and hidden pulls demonstrate Woo’s subtle precision and commitment to craft, while thin bands of colour add a graphic punch.
