FRESH CROP

Berlin-based contemporary design gallery Helmrinderknecht is currently presenting a selection of exciting new design works by students of ECAL University of Art and Design Lausanne, Switzerland.

The show is on now and set to run until until the July the 24th.

ECAL is internationally recognised as a hotbed of innovative talent for an international crowd of emerging designers, and we think this curated selection only confirms this reputation.

Under the guidance of Director Pierre Keller and Martin Schgaguler (head of the Industrial Design Department at ECAL) the students are showcasing projects by the Industrial Design Department as well as a number of works by the Media and Interaction Design Unit.

The choice of pieces exhibited is pleasingly varied - works include various tables (in lightweight concrete and metal with glass), a set of shelves with the accent on colour and volume, two series of stools (wood and cast aluminium), lamps (one modular variety, the other in glass), a set of glass jars and foam animals for children.

M.E. loves Camille Blin's glass and aluminium 'Gradient Lamps' - roundly shaped glass discs tinted in silk print, and the clever simplicity of Arnault Weber's 'Light Concrete Table' which is named so for good reason since it's only the outer crest made of cast concrete - the legs of the table are filled with an ultra-light polystyrene.
