Re-thinking the way you angle light onto your workspace is this design by Finnish studio Arihiro Miyake.

Rather than having a flexible head to adjust, the 'Miyake' lamp is adjusted as a whole from the base, so you rest the entire piece on any side of the polyhedron base at the desired angle.

Created by the Helsinki-based studio for Dutch brand Moooi, it's made of concrete and powder coated aluminium and was launched at the Salone in Milan this April.
