Here's a quick jump into the portfolio of young Portuguese illustrator and visual artist Luis Dourado.
Now based in Berlin, Luis studied at ESAD, (Escola Superior de Artes e Design of Matosinhos) in Porto where he graduated in Product Design in 2006, and then went on to Barcelona in the same year where he concluded the Masters program in Public Space and Communication at ELISAVA School.
Chiefly exploring the idea of collage - although not loyal to any specific technique - he oscillates between digital and analogue techniques from series to series, producing often quite abstract compositions using everything from coffee to glitter.
Whether that takes the form of creating pattern in colour from book pages, slicing up and re-constituting maps, or disguising famous faces; we think his work has an intriguing mystery that unifies it, all leading back to the graphically pleasing appropriation of unknown original images.
